HAPPY BORNDAY VALENTINE! Every now and then God creates a creature that is at once familiar and yet intriguingly unique; an odd combination of power and grace, one the fits perfectly into its natural landscape but still stands out and dominates all horizons it happens to step into. — I have loved this photo since it dropped a few months ago during my haitus. GQ Style sent the talented London based photog duo Sean + Seng to South Africa to shoot Valentine in a sweeping Louis Vuitton story entitled “Imaginings of Sand.” Luke Day served as Fashion Editor/Stylist with Louis Vuitton Artistic Director Kim Jones guiding the project. Paul Isaac was the casting director with the genius eye. I said a lot about Valentine in my recent “Tide Bearer” American Swag piece so I won’t overdo the flow of praise for this guy. I’ll just say that his work on this project is timeless. I predict these images will be around far behind the fast-turning cycles of publication windows and fashion seasons. Here’s to the start of another amazing year bro.
