immanentizing back in the lab again with the Kelvin takes, this time to attack capitalism with the same /r/Im14AndThisIsDeep lolgic you’d expect to find on /r/LateStageCapitalism or /r/chapoTrapHouse.

And in case anyone was wondering, Professor Richard D. Wolff here is a straight up Marxist.

Needless to say, when this view was contested in the responses...

We get Babby’s First Tankie implying socialism has only failed because those decadent capitalists sabotaged it. Notice also the false binary between “capitalism” (unfairness) and “communism”, which is implicitly “the best we can do”.

I’m...I’m pretty sure it was mainly the iceberg and incompetence that sunk the Titanic and killed people. You sure you want to get into a needless-suffering-off between Capitalism and Communism?

Columbine; guns bought illegally. They also planned to use bombs.

Aurora: Gun free zone.  He also used tear gas and rigged his apartment with bombs.

Newtown: Adam Lanza murdered his mother and stole her guns.

Orlando: Gun bought into gun-free zone.

Vegas: guns smuggled into hotel room. Paddock also owned a plane; he could’ve just flown that into the concert and killed even more people..

This is a strawman, of course. Pro-gun folks don’t complain about discussions of gun control, they complain about people who stand on bodies to push it right after tragedies. 

And, of course, they don’t want to “discuss” what gun control would’ve actually prevented these, unless it involves knee-jerk weapon bans which will hurt millions of law-abiding people for the actions of less than a dozen. 

And they sure don’t want to “discuss” how existing gun control measures fail to stop shooters, (Parkland, Sutherland Springs, Rancho Tehama, Bataclan).

And they never admit they need to take advantage of upset people, they just demonize those who disagree. And even when people do talk about gun control, but don’t agree, the grabbers get really, really miffed. 

Just like immanentizing is.

Which is why they blocked everyone who disagreed.

Which makes them...I’m thinking of a word, starts with H...

Whenever hoplophobes uses this strawman, they’re using “discuss” as shorthand for “agree with and implement”.
