Right Believing
I have always heard the phrase you must believe right, but I never truly understood it. I have even found myself saying those very same words, yet not realizing the importance or even God's truth behind it.
The Lord has recently been teaching me about right believing. Not only through Joseph Prince's book, but also through my Pastor and other heroes of mine in the faith. I have come to realize that I have been approaching a lot of things incorrectly. I have often wondered why it seems that God isn't answering some of my prayers. I don't ask for a lot of things, but I do ask for more than I already have. There is nothing wrong with that because God has promised that in His Word. I used to think that I was using my faith when I pray, but I have come to find out recently that even though I am believing for things, I'm not believing right for those things.
This has been on my mind for a long time. I hear stories from both side of the fence. I hear stories of people that have never been sick a day in their lives, people who have so much money that they can afford to just buy whatever they want, people that when they pray, God answers immediately. I also hear stories of people who have asked God for the very same things and never see it come to pass. I have always wondered why that is. The Bible says that God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). He doesn't discriminate. He doesn't choose one person over another. If that is true, and if the stripes upon Jesus' back were for our healing (Isaiah 53:5), then why do some people get healed and others don't?
That would have to mean that the problem isn't with God, but with our own beliefs. It's not even a question of faith because if you are asking God to heal you, then you must have enough faith that God can and will heal you. Otherwise, you wouldn't be asking Him at all. So the only possible explanation is our belief.
Do we believe that God:
can?
will?
wants to?
Then do we believe that have the right to ask for it?
It all seems very complicated, but it's actually very simple. Once we believe right, the process is truly amazing.
I personally have seen God heal many people. A lot were through my hands and my prayers for them. I myself have received a lot of healing. My back, spine, legs, arms, hands, and even my heart. Some of those were "easy" things to believe for. Others were "harder" to believe for. I have since grown closer to God and have begun to understand more of who He is.
He wants to heal us, He desires that we are healthy (III John 1:2)
Jesus paid for our healing (Isaiah 53:5)
We are His children (Romans 8:15)
We are righteous through Christ (Philippians 3:9)
I have been believing God for complete healing for my own health struggles. I have always believed that it was God's desire to heal me, but that I had to earn it somehow or be right with God for my faith to be "enough" to receive the healing.
I have changed that way of thinking and this most recent pain in my body was immediately affected. Did I receive a full healing for this yet? No. But my right believing has put me on the right path for full and complete health. It literally happened within seconds. I literally went from barely able to make it to my bathroom because of the pain to being out of the house, walking around, going to church and other events. I wasn't completely healed, but I was made well enough for such a drastic change.
What changed? My believing. It went from being incorrect, to being right. God has given us the power to receive His blessings. It's all there for the taking, we just have to align ourselves with Him.
