Today at ISIS Valdarno, Italy, we created a virtual laboratory inside the immersive teaching platform run by the Italian institute for education research funded by the Italian ministry for education, Indire, called Edmondo
Our school has its own space inside Edmondo that we use for projects like this and for teaching through virtual reality projects. It was used on one occasion for example, in a project for job training to reproduce a simulated travel agency based on the drawings made by the students. The travel agency they designed was realized in 3d in Edmondo and is visible and explorable at any moment.
The virtual reality platform is so conceived that students and teachers can meet from their homes in the form of avatars and create virtual objects that work and move according to scripts, that is to instructions written in code.
In this particular space we created for the project, the students from the partner schools can meet with each other and with the teachers, speak in voice and create objects and circuits together. They can create robots and mechanisms that they will then realize in real life and that move as the real ones do.
For the moment we have created the work area and placed a big copy of an Arduino uno and solderless breadboard to start with the first experiences or to show the pinout of the boards.
