it’s the middle of yet another frigid winter night, & he’s been walking long enough down the sidewalks of detroit that snow has accumulated on his dark clothing so that it seems as if he’s the world’s first android to develop dandruff — or, to the casual observer, that he just has dandruff period. he keeps his led hidden just as much as the rest of his looming body, after all; therefore, he’s left alone when he goes out, because he seems too imposing to be confronted by one man alone & humans don’t just get ganged up on like androids seem to. he refuses to remove the indicator because he refuses to distance himself so far from the androids he once knew, but ... he hides it well, so it ( usually ) doesn’t matter. tonight is no exception. in fact, tonight is ... one of the quietest in a while, free of even the most bare bones false alarm. felix wants to take this as a good sign, & if he were more optimistic, he’d even call it a night ! but he doesn’t trust fate, & he’s certainly no optimist — so, here he is, still hunting for wrongs to right as his thick shoes trod easily though the soft, freshly fallen snow. he’d be lying if he said tonight was the first night he stayed out when he really should’ve just gone back to whatever shithole he’s calling his home ... but this time, he was ( finally ) right in his skepticism. tonight, there’s someone who needs to be saved. not in the way which the RK900 usually saves others, mind you, but ... she needs it nonetheless, & he’ll be damned if he doesn’t help an android in trouble.
of course, it’s by a complete stroke of luck which he finds her, but he’s just glad he did. he can’t tell if she’s a human or an android at first, since she’s sort of curled up & the snow obscures her form ( not to mention his vision ) quite a lot, but ... either way ? she shouldn’t be out here on her own, & felix knows that. it’s especially alarming that she’s so still — still enough, in fact, for him to wonder if she’s already dead. this creates a flare of panic in the android, even if it doesn’t show — & so, it’s with a significantly quickened pace that he makes his way towards the small figure in the dark of an alleyway, boots now crunching rather than stepping gently & body practically sliding as he kneels down to get a little closer to her level. here, he shakes her shoulder — perhaps a lot harder than need be, but felix doesn’t know that, he’s just ... not very gentle. plus, he’s growing increasingly panicked ! is she going to be okay ? now that he’s up closer, it becomes clear that she’s an android ... but she might be damaged, & androids are not immune to this kind of cold. the smaller robot isn’t responding, so felix hesitates, then just shakes her again, maybe a tad harder than before. all the while, he’s asking a long series of disconnected questions — ❝ hello ? can you answer me ? is everything alright ? ❞ & the like. he’s trying his best here, so ... a response would be appreciated ! ( that means please try not to die on him yet, ellie. )
