ESPGI 2024 - Platelet and Granulocyte Immunobiology.

The ESPGI serves as a platform for professionals to explore, understand, and discuss various facets of thrombocytes and granulocytes. The ESPGI symposium not only offers attendees the chance to hear from eminent speakers but also to dive into the latest research through abstracts and posters. As always, the ESPGI provides an ideal setting to network, share opinions, and indulge in delightful cuisine. As in 2018, the Symposium will be held at De Reehorst, a hotel and conference centre in Ede. Ede is located in the centre of the Netherlands, which is conveniently accessible by car and train, including direct connections from Schiphol Airport.

Meet Ace George Santiago, microbiologist and immunobiologist

1) What do you do?

I study how disease-causing bacteria build their cell wall, which is the target of many antibiotics. The aim is to discover and develop drugs to understand and combat antibiotic resistance.

2) Where do you work?

I work in the Department of Microbiology and Immunobiology at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. I am a postdoctoral fellow at the lab of Prof. Suzanne Walker.  

3) Tell us about the photos!

Apart from doing science, I enjoy playing the banduria. I was a member of Cornell University’s 14Strings!, a musical organization, which seeks to promote Filipino culture through music.
