This is chapter 1 of 4 of my birthday fic for @imperialmint and @lunarshores (even tho I’m hella late, but okay, you forgive me <3)
There was nothing to complain about, in reality. Marco could admit he’d had so much time with his father, all of it good, and there was no way it could have lasted forever. He wasn’t a child anymore, he’d faced the mortality of his parents long ago.
Wherein Marco became king and nothing could prepare him for where that led.

Summary: Every Monday, Merlin walks around the lake of Avalon and then has a drink at the pub. He does this because he’s waiting, waiting for the rest of the world to fall into place.
Comment: This story starts off rather sad, Merlin’s loneliness and hatred for the lake of Avalon yet unwillingness to leave it really made me feel for him; especially since he hasn’t been able to connect with anyone since Arthur’s death. However, Arthur’s return really changes the tone of the story, and the ending is lovely.
