very soft! I’ve actually had my hands on plenty of wild birds because while I try avoiding contact with wildlife unless its direly neccessary a lot of hurt or inconvienced animals seem to seek me out lmao. He was very warm and soft and very, very squirmy, which is good! Means he’s healthy and strong and should be right as rain now that he’s back with his parents.

When I was about 10 or so, Pepper got out of his cage and flew away. Eventually my dad found him because he was screaming his bird head off at the top of a tall tree. The whole neighborhood gathered round as my family tried various methods to get Pepper to come down. We offered food, called to him, made loud noises, someone sprayed him with a hose... But that grump of a bird stayed put. Then my mom got an idea. She picked me up and pretended to spank me. Pepper flew down out of the tree to attack her and defend me. And that's how we got him back and he has hated my mom to the point of flying at her ever since.

I remember reading somewhere that greyhounds have softer skin than regular dogs to reduce wind resistance but that makes it easier for them to get injured and longer for the injuries to heal. Is this true? Do you have to make sure that Boone isnt around sharp objects or corners?

I can’t say I’ve ever heard anything about wind resistance, but yes greyhounds are definitely a very thin-skinned dog breed. They’re more prone to abrasions and lacerations than other breeds, and when they do get them they tend to be worse than you’d expect - very common to see older greys dotted with scars from lots of stitches! I certainly have to be very careful when picking collars/harnesses, as anything that’s not very soft or silky will give Bound sores. And he very regularly gets cuts and scrapes all over his paws and legs (thankfully nothing serious yet, I always keep gauze on hand just in case). You don’t necessarily have to treat them like they’re made of glass though. Muzzled playtime is always cool if you can swing it, but at the end of the day, dogs are gonna dog.

Hey Kay, hope you dont mind me asking as you seem to know your stuff when it comes to dogs but do know any good research resources for dog pelt patterns, colors and other genetic stuff? I do character design as a bit of a hobby and while its easy for me to find resources for cat coat genetics I cant really find much for dogs.
