We all know,

I’m just a well trained,

Mutt,

Lock me in my crate,

Whenever I misbehave,

And then beat me,

Judge my intelligence,

I can follow along,

And even though,

You’ve let me go,

Released me into the wild,

I can’t help,

But miss you,

Even when you hurt me,

I loved you,

When we cross paths,

I wish I’d growl,

Bark,

And bite till you bleed,

I wish I could sink my teeth,

Into your flesh,

Thrash until it comes loose,

Instead,

I avoid your gaze,

Shying away,

I can’t look you in the eyes,

Even now in my freedom,
