Hey there!
It's the anon who asked the ice powers hero who has white hair, lashes and stuff x fire Power villain
And it was so good! I absolutely love ur writing 😭
I was wondering if I could ask for another request, which is, detective (female) x villain (male)?
It's fine if you can't :)
Thanks 🫶🏽
Hi Anons! Sure! I'm going to combine your asks if that's all right!
Cold Case
Detective pinned another tack on the board and fixed a string of red yarn across it. What was she missing here? The suspect list had barely dwindled, and the more clues she found, the more questions she had. Who would be powerful enough to kidnap Hero? Was Hero even kidnapped at all? Maybe they ran away, but what reason would they have?
Detective fiddled with her pendant, as she always did when she was deep in thought. The metal was always cool no matter how long she would hold it. It was soothing.
“Those dark circles look dreadful, darling.”
Detective whirled around, going for the gun holstered at her hip. She stared down the barrel at the masked figure halfway through her window.
Villain held up his hands in surrender.
“Easy, not here to fight,” he said.
“Then why are you here?” Detective quirked an angry brow.
“Would you believe me if I said I was worried about you?” Villain asked, stepping closer.
Detective took off the safety.
“Give me one good reason to not exercise the self-defense laws.”
“I have information about Hero,” Villain said.
Detective stared blankly. Slowly, the safety went back on.
“Go on.”
“I was talking to some of my colleagues,” Villain said, “and they told me something interesting about my old nemesis.”
He paced around the office in a cautious manner, looking over Detective’s notes as he passed. The gun followed his every movement.
“They told me, she’s still in the city. In fact, she never left.”
“…What?”
Villain stopped inches from Detective, placing his hand on the gun and lowering it. She didn’t lift it back up.
“Supervillain had a team put together. A group of scientists, all of which had their licenses revoked for unethical experimentation. You know what he had them do?”
Detective gave a nearly imperceptible shake of the head.
“He had them alter someone’s memories. Remove some, replace some, build some new ones altogether. A whole new backstory for this person.”
“Hero…” Detective realized.
“Hero’s been living in the city as a civilian, none the wiser. Supervillain was free to execute his plans on schedule, without turning the whole city against him by making Hero a martyr.”
“And… where is Hero now?” Detective asked.
Villain smiled sadly.
“She’s working as a detective for her own case.”
There was a long bout of silence between them.
“What evidence do you have?” Detective finally asked.
Villain tucked a finger under her pendant.
“Who gave you this?” he asked.
“My mother, just before she died.”
“Hm. Interesting for your mom to give you a power-suppressing necklace.”
Villain reached behind her neck and unhooked the chain, letting the necklace fall to the floor with a dull thud. Detective cried out as a sudden chill overwhelmed her.
“I bet Mommy made you promise to never take it off, right?”
Detective tried to steady herself. The cold seemed to come from deep inside of her, chilling her from the bone outward. There was something else. She looked down and saw the reason for her lack of balance. Ice was spreading out across the floor. It melted at Villain’s feet.
Detective stumbled into Villain’s arms.
“Easy, easy, I’ve got you,” Villain said, “I’ve missed you.”
“I don’t understand-”
“It took me so long to find you, and when I did, part of me wondered if I should even interfere. But I couldn’t take it any longer.”
Villain produced a syringe filled with a glowing, blue liquid.
“This serum counteracts any and all memory alterations. Let me use it.”
“I… I don’t-”
“Hero, please. Please come home.”
“Hang on a second- Ah!”
The needle pierced her skin before she could protest further. She fell limp in Villain’s hold. As her vision faded, a dam in her mind broke, unleashing a flood of memories that flowed through her hippocampus long after she had passed out.
…
Villain carried Hero over to the worn couch in the dingy office. He waited for what felt like an eternity before she began to stir. Her eyes fluttered open.
“Hero?” Villain asked.
She smiled, reaching to cup the side of his face. She lifted her head as far as she could and pressed her lips against his.
“I’m back.”
Villain didn’t bother to fight the tears that came. He sat his lover up and embraced her tightly.
“You’re back,” he sobbed, “you’re back.”
His cries were echoed by Hero’s own.
“I wanna go home,” she said, hugging him back.
Villain pulled away only to kiss her some more. He stood, hoisting her into a bridal carry. He flew out of the open window to their house. It had been half-empty for so long, Villain had almost forgot what being whole felt like. The power suppressing necklace lay discarded in the old office, serving only to collect dust now.
