modern!prinxiety but they're accidental dorm mates

roman having to, begrudgingly, share a room with remus in their academy's dormitory to (acc to their mom) keep an eye on remus and to (acc to their dad) save money.

but during the freshmen's moving day, the systems made an error—basically, all the dorm mates were switched, swapped, or were deleted. thankfully, roman and remus's were just swapped: remus was assigned a solo room and roman with a guy named "virgil"

they didn't meet during moving day (roman trying to switch back rooms because his mother was complaining about remus having to live alone) and when they did, on do-day or the first day of orientation week, they immediately fought.

their first year just composed of trying to get used to the idea of a stranger in their spaces (roman avoiding virgil by staying in the living room most of the time and not their bedroom—they have a bunk bed—and virgil ignoring roman by always having his headphones on even tho it's out of battery—he just pretends to listen to music)

on the summer of their second year, they both have mandatory summer classes and still need to share a dorm. this is the time when they try to get closer cause they had the realization that they would be seeing each other for 2 more years (roman took a 3-year program while virgil took 4)

they basically bond during that summer and are more comfortable by their second year of living together (not close yet but they stopped ignoring each other) during this time, roman's friend tells him virgil's his type and asks roman to see if virgil was boyfriend material. roman, self proclaimed "love god" says that he will help, and starts talking to virgil everyday and getting to know him and has the realization that oh he isn't that bad (virgil tries to push him away but fails because he genuinely thinks that roman was trying to be nice—very awkward during this time in their relationship)

during the second half of their second year, roman and virgil are much more comfortable with each other to the point where they get past their unwritten rules and boundaries:

(roman (clingy and touchy roman) told virgil that he was not comfortable with touching during their first month during their first year together) cuts to them in their second year cuddling on the couch because roman's touch starved

roman accidentally called virgil "sweetheart" during a movie night of theirs after roman's failed date—he freezes up but relaxes when virgil just replies (sweetheart became virgil's title in everything)

roman places sticky notes around their dorm because roman has more night classes and virgil, morning classes ("don't forget to eat dinner!" "heat up the pasta, be back 6 (early i know :0)")

roman (top bunk) virgil (bottom bunk) starts sleeping in the small living room they have in their dorm

in early mornings, roman (not at all a morning person) gives virgil back hugs (the first time he did this was because he was touch starved)

in early mornings, virgil turns towards roman (as he back hugs him) and pinches his cheeks with a soft laugh of "good morning, princess" (started sarcastically, stuck with roman)

virgil holds roman's hand whenever they go out in public because one time, they got separated in the mall and had every security guard of every store help them find the other

virgil sits on roman's lap (started as a joke)

because of all of these (and more), their—respective—friend groups think that they're dating

(the guy who had a "crush" on virgil, backed off when roman talked about how "yes, virgil is absolutely boyfriend material! he says good morning without fail and makes you breakfast. whenever he gets mad at something i do, he immediately tells me and we talk—he is good at communicating! and he remembers every single thing, small or big, and and and—")

during their third year (being roman's last), the system got fixed and they had to change dorms. long story short, roman and virgil moved to an apartment near campus together + roman "unfortunately" failed his final exam and had to redo a major subject of his...

... i'll probably finish this tomorrow lol

Virgil: Roman, is this the face of a "cute, uwu, sleepy guy," or the face of a man who's experienced the horrors of humanity in the dead of night, has gotten maybe 4 hours of sleep, and craves freedom from their mortal vessel.

Roman: cute uwu

Virgil: I'm going to eat you. You were the wrong person to ask I guess. I could have blood on my face and murder in my eyes and you'd still think I was adorable.

Roman: unfortunately it's true, but in that one you do look sleepy cute. I know you, so I know it's not true, but Patton did look over and saw my phone and said "aww"
