Some quick sketches. I headcanon that Sooga was a general in Hyrule's royal army before joining the Yiga and I plan to post a fic with the concept in the next couple of months. I have been playing around with the idea, so the final concept is not done yet, but the current edition is below. Any feedback is appreciated. (+Note at bottom)
Sooga was born in Lurelin Village to a Gerudo mom and Hylian Dad, who worked as a contractor and fisherman respectively. He was the third child in a family with two brothers and one sister. Growing up, he was always infatuated with the idea of being a hero, always running out to see the royal guards of Hyrule Castle coming into the village as they guarded diplomats and nobles. It was the one thing that motivated him more than anything else, and he trained and read for hours, only brought back home by the smell of his favorite food. When he got old enough, he joined the royal army and his family followed, moving into Central Hyrule.
Sooga flew up the ranks of the army, becoming one of the elite generals, but his fortune would not last long. A nobleman, Aureus, had been having terrible arguments with his wife, who was threatening to divorce him and expose his embezzlement and shady dealings. One night, it boiled over, so in the heat of the moment, he killed her. He pinned the murder on Sooga, who had been in the area at the time for a late night meeting and, despite having an alibi, Aureus' word was greater than his own. He was sentenced to exile into the Gerudo desert so that he would suffer greatly. His family, now disgraced as both their honor and status were tainted by his supposed actions did not meet his eye as he was forced to leave.
He was saved by Kohga in the desert, and for a while, he held out hope that his name would be cleared and he would be accepted again, but that time never came. Eventually, his bitterness left as he became content in his new life.
As for the last picture.... Kohga is not impressed by Zelda's taste in partners. (Intended to be Zelimpa/ Zelink, but could be viewed as any ship)

Explain
“Okay... so I’m basically like, destined to be king?” Hyrule began, Wild listening intently.
“Impa explained it all to me, and I still don’t entirely get it, but it has something to do with the triforce and how I was able to read these old texts that nobody else could. And while I’m not actually married, I am, um... engaged,” he mumbled with an embarrassed smile, cheeks turning pink.

From the moment he can first remember anything—every memory, recent or distant, good or bad—Zelda’s been right there beside him. Ever since he lost her, his entire world has been off-kilter. He’s lost track of the number of times that he’s cracked a joke or reached out for her on instinct, only to turn around and be reminded that she’s not there. Nothing seems to make sense without her in the picture. They say you don’t need another person to make you whole, but he’s starting to wonder if he might be the exception. Because Zelda’s gone, and part of Link has gone with her. He doesn’t even feel like himself anymore. “This is all my fault,” he mumbles.

Ya know what, I'll do a WIP Wednesday for once, since it's been a minute since I've posted some art...
Pretty much all of my art attention lately has been on illustrations for my recital coming up on April 29th, so here's one I've been working on! This will go with a Sheik's Theme/Zelda's Lullaby medley!
