#Repost @groovinmegzz with @repostapp ・・・ Wellness Wednesday Post! Today's Topic= Protein and its importance Pictured here are polypeptide chains for primary and secondary structures of the body. Protein is the basis of how the body moves, functions and regenerates. Protein responsibilities range from aiding the composition of all bones, organs, muscle, cartilage, connective tissue to the small functional aspects like biochemical cell reactions, formation of digestive enzymes and antibodies, encoding and synthesis of genetic material, removal and repair of damage tissues. Assisting in transmission signals between cells and transporting hormones from one cell to the other. And aids the body in virus excretion! Protein should be 10-35% of your daily calorie intake 🔹Sedentary men and women should be consuming at least .8g Protein/kg 🔹Strength athletes at least 1g/kg 🔹Strength endurance athletes 1.2-1.5g protein/kg Not consuming enough protein in the diet-the body will begin to break down its own muscle tissue (catabolism) to obtain the amino acids it needs. This can lead to stunted growth, poor muscle formation, reduce muscle tone, inadequate immune system and Unhealthy hair and nails amongst other conditions. A balanced diet, and a good variety of protein sources, is imperative in achieving a healthy body. The best protein sources can come from meat, fish, poultry, eggs, cricket flour, legumes and nuts. Some vegetables and grains contain small amounts of proteins. For supplementation I recommend @isagenix Grass fed whey and plant based protein options.
