I fell asleep to Phineas and Ferb that night. It was 3:40 a.m. When I awoke, it was only three hours later. I don’t know if it was fate or God but I know one thing. Somehow, my mind registered what was going on and snapped my eyes open to alert me of the situation. No one warns you of it. No one tells you about the feeling of it. I didn’t know what was going on when I saw it, all I know is a prickly feeling on my inner arm when I awoke. I groggily turned my head but my mind was on high alert. Then I saw its ebony back of two giant wings and tiny legs and head. I screamed. I scrambled from the couch getting the word, “Gross!” Out my lips as well as I could as I watched the thing flit upward before settling on the side of the couch. It sat there and when I was sure it would stay, I left. I raced for the kitchen sink, swinging open the cabinet to snatch the Hot Shot from the darkness it had long been retired to. It didnt have much left, a memorial of the long battles it fought before but it was time for it to come out of retirement. It’s the best in the game after all. I stand in front my couch, looking for the ebony colored demon that attached itself to the brown couch. I find it’s back, glistening against the morning light. I spray the beast with the Hot Shot. The liquid hits it’s wings. The beast resists, it’s deep, silent scream crying out as it attempted to fly away but I continued to spray, having no mercy for such a ruthless monster. The beast lost, it fell against the long valleys of soft cushioning my couch could provide. It couldn’t survive the hot shot, no other beast ever could. It breathed its last, disgusting breath before dying, making sure to flip over and expose its curled legs. My body fought me as I walked closer to see if it was still moving, and my body quivered. I gagged, staggering back the moment my mind deemed it right. I knew I needed to rid of the body, but my body nearly broke down at the thought of even touching it. I closed my eyes, gulping down the saliva in my mouth, but with that saliva I gulped down my disgust and fear. I took to the basket full of plastic bags and grabbed layers and layers of it til I could barely feel anything through it. I near the fallen beast’s body, but the bags slide from my hands and I stagger back. I press my hands against my face, gagging as my body fervently shook. I don’t dare look at it, I know the job must get done but everything inside me protested. I can’t touch it. Thankfully a valiant hero passed by. I requested she dispose of the body and she quickly did so, not soon after did she mock me for my inability to do it myself but as is the way of the sibling.
I soon took a shower after that but the trickling of water down my skin felt like a million of the demons clawing they’re way from hell and crawled down my thighs. I shivered throughout the shower and left it as soon as possible. I still look at the spot from which the flying demon lied. The pungent stentch of our battle stings my nostrils. I will never forget this day and the memory of awaking to a cockroach resting on my arm will forever remain in the forefront of my cognizance.
