We get goosebumps looking at archival #museumlife photos such as this one, courtesy @@theartnewspaper.official: . Blast from the past: Did you know that in the late 1970s, the #RoyalAcademy of Arts in #London nearly sold off its most valuable work - the Taddei Tondo by #Michelangelo. At the time it was worth £5m (it's other 56 sculptures were worth £70,000 in total). Luckily, the London institution changed its mind - today the tondo is worth well over £100m! 🤑. . Hello handsome - courtesy @fitzmuseum_uk @cambridgeuniversity 🇬🇧! . Announcing an important acquisition (April 2017) - a handsome swagger-portrait of Claude-Armand Gérôme by his brother Jean-Léon #Gérôme (1824-1904), one of the most important #French painters of the #19thcentury. Gérôme was hostile to the 'decadent fashion' of Impressionism, and his brother seems to share his opinion (judging from his expression), looking down on Monet's 'Poplars' (PD.9-1966). .
