The Lady with the Veil. The Artist's Wife Marie Suzanne Giroust. Oil on Canvas (1768) Dressing up and playing theatrical roles was a favorite pastime for the 18th-century upper classes. In this sweet Rococo portrait, Swedish artist Alexander Roslin (1718–1793) depicts his wife, the prominent French painter Marie-Suzanne Giroust, masquerading à la bolognaise, the style of Bologna, Italy.
It's been quite a while since actually posted some art that I've seen in person. I was recently at Nationalmuseum in Stockholm where I got to see these lovely pieces. Definitely a good art museum, even just the building is a 10/10, but I must admit I still prefer the Gothenburg Museum of art.
