ylfas baba yaga scene made me cry so i wanna talk about it

first off, her calling the girl "little one" was such a good subtle way of embracing the role switch and i loved it. and the way she treated the role, obviously having learned from the wolf, but still being very her in it, something she has to do, but not in a malicious way...

what if death isnt serious and challenging? what is death isnt a horrifying skeleton in a dark cloak with a scythe and an hour glass who shows up like a ghost and challenges you to a chess game of destiny?

what if death is nice? what if its comforting? what if death gently rocks you to sleep while it tells you you led a good life? what if it wraps you in its cloak and leeds you to a path into a beautiful forest?

death is terrifying for the living, but that doesn't mean it is for the dying

Listen. Sometimes you want to spend 30 minutes crafting the deepest trance you can to repeat and reinforce a single suggestion which may only last a scene.

Sometimes you want to just make a "do what I say" trigger stretch as far as it can possibly go.

"By my command: stand, salute, kiss my hand, kneel and look adoringly into my eyes as you slide into deep trance" gets the same results as "and when you awaken you may find yourself pulled to your feet and it's okay if you don't focus on why you feel so light and floaty, you can just let it happen as your hand raises in to a salute; perhaps some part of you knows that you're obeying my command and it's okay if you let yourself enjoy the thrill of obedience, even as you--"

But the tone is OH so much different.

Yeah, sorry about that. It’s because the old version is out of print!

I just finished giving that novel a complete makeover and will be releasing the new version under the title THE ACADEMY sometime this year. I’ll post about it when the time comes, but essentially, I wrote that book when I was 19, and it needed to be completely reworked and updated.

If anyone has a print copy of the original, it’s now a collector’s item. ;D I doubt you’ll get $997 for it, though. I know @sunstarrmoon has one!
