REPOST BY @chrisbrockphoto Normal is an illusion. - Philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti famously said “it is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society”. This system of ‘norms’ that we are required to buy into, this material model that keeps us hungry, dissatisfied, in a constant state of wanting, is not good for us. Yet we all so desperately want to fit in, to be accepted by this unbalanced, unhealthy state of being that is based on stress, conflict, fear, anger, unhappiness and a constant state of ‘lacking’. - But there’s a part of us that wants to be special. It makes us unique, it equips us with wonderful gifts to share with the world, and it offers us the chance of connection, contentment, oneness and fulfilment. But we shy away from it, preferring to conform to standards that are not us but, we are told, are what is required to be successful and complete. This is an illusion. - It was dancer and all-round creative entity Everton Bell-Chambers @ev_o_lution who first told me “normal is an illusion”. He has it tattooed on his body. I’ve photographed him lots of times, and at the beginning of the year we chatted about it on my podcast. - We will never be special if we embrace fear, and try to fit in to this system of imbalance. We need to find the thing that makes us weird and let it shine, and stop caring what the world thinks. Because somewhere, out there, it will touch someone, help them, and they will shine too. - What makes you special? - #ev_o_lution#himevolution#in2evolution #chrisbrockphoto #photography #photographer (at London, United Kingdom)
