Been chipping away at this piece for a couple weeks in between personal stuff, freelance, and work. Here's my mock cover art for one of my favorite scary books as a kid, Alvin Schwartz's " In A Dark, Dark Room & Other Scary Stories." Its a book that is on the banned book list. I remember in elementary school, every year for Halloween I'd check this book out. I loved it so much. Still do even as an adult. Hope one day to get to illustrate a scary book or Halloween themed book.

Tell me you remember this? Because I haven't ever, ever, EVER thought about this story as an adult, not once -- but Ibrecognized the picture immediately when I saw it and the whole story vividly flashed back to me, like a portal to 3rd grade, I can remember what the library chairs felt like, checking this book out repeatedly -- #thegreenribbon was a story in the book #inadarkdarkroom by Alvin Schwartz and I can SMELL the book, you know? 80s hardcover library books, card catalogues, the stamps with a return by date, good living. Anyone else remember? I found it on Amazon, but it's a new version, not the same artwork, which simply won't do. Maybe I can find a good used copy somewhere. So rad.
