‘Toiles de Jouy’ simply means cloth from Jouy, a town near Paris. These textiles were all the rage in 18th century France, where textile makers borrowed methods of printing patterns on cotton used in India. They often included scenes of aristocratic daily life, but for this post we’ve mostly concentrated on some of the more abstract designs, and a contemporary interpretation of the style. Shady Hollow | Juneau Black

A whimsical murder mystery that makes you want to cozy up under the covers with a hot cup of coffee at the ready and just immerse yourself in the small and quaint town of Shady Hollow!

I cannot express in words how much I truly enjoyed this book. The story follows many perspectives, but the main one is a news reporter named Vera Vixen, who is out to investigate the murder of the town's grouch Otto Sumpf. Grumpy old Otto was constantly arguing with somebody, but who would actually take action to murder him though?

We meet a wide cast of characters that you genuinely start to adore for their unique quirks and personalities. Reading this book made me want to be a part of the town and sit down at the coffee shop [Joe's Mug, owned and operated by Joe, the moose] and visit the bookstore Nevermore Books which is owned by Vera's best friend ( a raven ) named Lenore. 

I cannot wait to pick up the second and third books that are in the series💖

The weekend is almost here and I’m super excited to have it off since this work week has really put me through it 😬. Tomorrow I plan on making a to-do list for all the things I’ve been putting off (like actually finish Gilded Wolves, repotting one of my plants, and building a cat tree that comes in today) and then Sunday I’m going to the Renaissance Faire in Bristol WI with my siblings! It’s been a couple years since I last went, so I’m super excited to return this year 🥰 . As for what I’m currently listening to, I’m usually listening to a true crime podcast (I’m currently working through the backlog for Morbid: A True Crime Podcast). However, now that Lorde AND Halsey have recently dropped new albums, I’ve been listening to them non-stop. The vibes are completely different between the two works, BUT they are both ✨immaculate✨ .
