[ hair & lean ] – for the sender to brush a strand of hair out of the face, and lean in slowly for a kiss. // For Thorin
The intimacy of hands || Accepting
Bilbo is nervous. Nervous but also...excited.
He had been there when Thorin went through his coronation, of course, but because they weren't married, he wasn't a part of it. It never really occurred to Bilbo that, when they finally did get married after his return, that he'd have to go through his own. Their marriage was a month ago, and thank goodness they at least waited so Bilbo could have time to breathe, but still...
But still, he's just a little hobbit, and if anyone had told him some years ago that he'd be marrying a dwarf king and becoming his consort, he would've laughed! These things are grand events, especially since a dwarf king and consort hadn't been crowned in so, so long. People from all corners of Middle Earth were to attend, and Bilbo feels like he might be sick.
He stares at his reflection in the mirror, thinking he looks so unlike himself. The royal garments were custom made, as even a wealthy hobbit had never owned anything so nice. No expense had been spared for this. He absently tugs at the cape clasped around his neck, and he turns to face Thorin with a shaky laugh.
"I feel ridiculous, Thorin," he says, although it's more from anxiety than anything else. The thought of going out there alone to be crowned with all those eyes on him sends his heart rate skyrocketing, even if Balin went through it with him a million times before now. "Look at me: do I even look worthy of all this?"
He takes another deep breath, then Thorin approaches him, looking at him with such an intense stare that it makes his knees quake (in a good way). A hand comes up, pushing a stray curl out of Bilbo's eyes, and the kiss he receives after is one meant to reassure.
He's not alone. Not really. It'll be over before he knows it.
So he looks back at his reflection, then nods, taking one of Thorin's hands and squeezing it. "I think I'm ready," he murmurs, grinning a little. "Just one more grand adventure, isn't it?"
