What are ulquiorra’s thoughts on fraccion? Did he ever consider taking any?
During his service under Aizen, he had a vague understandingas to why other Espada kept Fraccion, and for most of them it was simply toboost their own egos – to make them feel more important than they actuallywere. If you were to try and insinuate that it was instead for the sake ofcompanionship he would be less able to understand.
They are Arrancar that areso much weaker and less capable than they are that keeping them around you on adaily basis could only prove to hold you back. Sure, they may serve a purposesometimes (as a distraction), but more often than not they would just end up aliability. Their chance for injury or incapacitation is much higher than anEspada’s, and because they are so much weaker, there is a desperation there toprove that they are not so, which can interfere with their orders in usuallylethal/fatal ways.
His only example of an Espada that honestly cares for theirFraccion would be Harribel, and as I’ve mentioned before he cannot fathom whyshe does. Why go through such lengths to protect someone so much weaker thanyou without being given explicit orders to do so? What have they done to earnthat loyalty? The idea that they are kept around because of a genuineattachment has been formed regardless of how they could or couldn’t be ofservice is completely foreign to him.
Now, though, he has become a bit moreopen-minded/understanding about it. He would still much prefer his solitude(for the silence if nothing else), but the more he comes to learn about himselfand his emotional capacity, the more he realizes how much he doesn’tparticularly care for that nagging, lonely feeling he seems to have. And he isstill, unfortunately, reluctant to admit that it’s there at all.
