My take on Fantasy Creatures E1: Succubi
Succubi are a race of demon born by Lilith's first love, which she discarded like trash after it went terribly. what you think you know about succubi from Hollywood and such are actually fabrications of the church to make them seem like evil beasts to be slain without second thought. they actually can't feel lust. they have no physical sexual desire in that sense. their culture is instead based entirely on love. their promiscuity is common misconception driven by the fact they fall in love easily. and get attached very quickly. this is due to having more dopamine/serotonin receptors than humans. this was an evolutionary trait based on the idea that demons get magic from their emotions, their particular emotion being love. see, their body is their most sacred possession. it is worshiped, and there are rituals and religion all about taking care of this temple that is their body. therefore, it is seen as the utmost most romantic thing to give your body to your partner. to be vulnerable to another, to please them. and due to their ease of falling in love, they often commit to this act way too early. and too offer it to them is seen as a proposal of marriage. Succubi have a misconception about marriage. to them, Marriage was taught as the joining of two souls. they took this to the route of literally devouring their partner's soul, as they thought that's a good thing to do for the person you love. (it's generally not.) the logic is that they quite literally become a part of you... forever. this is why after copulating with a succubi, they succ your soul from your body like ramen noodles. so due to hormones, misguided instincts, church propaganda, and fundamental misunderstanding of marriage, Succubi are painted as malevolent, despite only wanting to find love. a forever partner. some are malicious just as seen in the tales, but those are generally societal outcasts and mass serial killers. they have evolved and adapted to fit the beauty standards of the part of the world they reside in. in western America, they might appear as a big tiddy countrywoman with blonde hair, or in Japan, they may appear as a petite, elegant woman. they have been hunted to endagerment by humans and abused and sold as prostitutes for their "crimes against humanity", which eventually made them catch on to the idea that "maybe eating your partner's soul is a bad thing?" so they stopped doing that. in modern society, while still rare and with heavy prejudice, they reside semi-peacefully. on the note of failed relationships, it shatters them. almost completely. they get sent into a four year long state of depression that few of them survive unless they find a new partner. they are considerably more vulnerable during this time. they look over abusive tendencies a lot easier, meaning a lot of them get stuck in abusive relationship cycles until they commit suicide. it's a tragedy, and the main reason why they are still endangered as a race, but a few have managed to make dynasties with worthy bloodlines. Succubi and Inccubi are the same, but gender swapped, and they are genderfluid by nature. they often change to fit the sexual preference of their partner. the reason I made all these changes was because I was sick of "it's a slut that kills you". it felt so boring and uncharacterized, especially since vampires already do that. this makes them a tragic creature. they are genuine people who are just stuck in a series of unfortunate circumstances, so that despite being the second most powerful humanoid demons in terms of magic power, they still fall victim to the cruelty and social practices of humanity and it's darker side of society.
