when powerfantasy crashes, is it usually a crash back to axiom/guesswork or is there an intermediate crashed out state as she comes down from herself?
Ooh that’s such a good question. I have a feeling that maybe Powerfantasy does have a dimmed state where she gains… a sort of atypical clarity in the form of dissatisfaction with her achievements/funds while she’s in-phase. On a similar vein, Small Animal is in fact capable of feeling happiness. But that happiness is swarmed with caveats of dread and disorientation, ultimately making feeling happiness not even her goal. Instead, being unconscious somewhere private is.
I like to think that, depending on on its intensity, PF extinguishes in a gradual dim of a few seconds, a flicker out, or a flashbang.
When Powerfantasy phases out, it can be:
1. Into Axiom in a gradated comedown. Whatever PF was doing, Axiom can see the intent and may continue with a ton of revision. She sees phasing into PF as sometimes worthwhile for her occasional good ideas, but admits she’s not an ideal nor sustainable state for that. Axiom is nonjudgemental of PF beyond collegially evaluating the efficacy of her decisions. Axiom likes her personality as PF, but likes her own personality more.
2. Into Praxis in an abrupt stop. Praxis doesn’t really concern herself with the intricacies of Axiom’s workflow or thinking. Despite this, (or rather, this is because) Praxis trusts Axiom’s judgement. Praxis does not trust PF’s, and grabs the reins as soon as PF crashes while in a position that leaves her particularly vulnerable, such as if in a dangerous environment or with an opportunistic audience. Praxis sees PF as naïve and reckless. PF also gives Praxis worse hangovers than Axiom, who’s at least a little courteous about it.
3. Into Small Animal in a violent crash. If PF suddenly feels threatened in a deep-cutting way (this is not common and requires a moment of “clarity”), Small Animal can rapidly consume her. Her intellect and mental workbench of ideas don’t immediately phase out with PF’s departure. Small Animal has the pleasure of having PF’s thoughts slowly slip away from her grasp, first by uncertainty, then by confusion, then by overwhelm. If PF crashes into Small Animal, a chunk of her memory is wiped. Small Animal simply struggles to hold onto substance beyond moments of active and ambient fear and sadness.
