This was embarrassing. No one really knew Yang’s dilemma and of course she wouldn’t go into such detail with some random stranger that wouldn’t even give her the time of day. Her pride was holding onto the last precious moment that she could before she gave in and threw aside her pride and admit that she had fucked up.

Yet things weren’t looking well for Yang, even after she searched through the immediate vicinity to no avail. So finally she gave in, only telling people half the truth. Because they didn’t need to know her business unless they decided to get involved.

“Hey, sorry to come up and bother you out of nowhere,” Yang started, beginning the speech that she tried countless times before, “but can you help me out? I-uh, kinda lost something and I need help looking for it.” She laughed uneasily as she ran a hand through her hair. “And I’m still new to Wonderland and can’t retrace my steps.”

Tension stifled the room and made it difficult for Mizuki to breathe. Her cheeks burned with fury, and her nose was so red that it looked like someone splattered fresh paint against it.

Her lips puckered as she swiped her lips against them, feeling the grooves of the chapped skin.It was like she was licking sand paper. The corners of her eyes became wet as she stared at Bakugou’s back. Regret pounded against her head and then she felt anger and guilt and sadness whirling together in one pool of mass emotion. 

One step and another... Mizuki closed the distance as she grasped the bottom of his shirt between two fingers and her thumb. Her shoulders still trembled from her negative emotions, but her heart also thumped against her rib cage. Taking a deep breath, she leaned her forehead against his back, keeping her grip on his shirt.

“I don’t want to fight. And I especially don’t want to fight with you.” She let go of his shirt and snaked her arms around his waist. She inhaled, feeling the cool air comfort her. Holding him like this was the right thing. “I’m sorry,” she whispered. “I shouldn’t have said what I did and I’m so sorry.” Mizuki tightened her grip. “Can we just... sit... and talk? I’ll make cocoa or something.”

Something wasn’t right.

Mizuki knew this immediately, and she still continued walking around the fleeting scenery before her, slow and careful steps skirting along the edge of an invisible path. The girl held her hand to her chest as she looked around, calculating blue eyes taking in every image that she possibly could.

She should have known what was happening, but she refused to believe that this power moved with her to a foreign land. How could her magic possibly work in a new world? Shouldn’t it only exist in its origin point? Yet, she knew deep down that she was traversing through someone’s dream. Though it didn’t make sense. Why now? Why here?

The answer was clear as day: someone was experiencing heightened emotions. It was only a matter of time before her subconscious dragged her away for the off-chance that she could help someone. Of course she couldn’t, though she would never admit that aloud so her twin could hear. If Mizuki couldn’t even help herself, then how could she even help some poor stranger?

“Who’s dream is this...?” she murmured. “What kinds of dreams exist in Wonderland?”
