OfWordsAndBlood's Witch Smoke
A general working incense for gathering up power and potency, and for the empowerment of talismans and charms.
3 tsps. Black Copal (or Black Storax)
3 tsps. Juniper Berries
3 tsps Pine, Fir, or Hemlock Resin
2 tsps. Cedar Foliage
2 tsps. Dragon's Blood
2 tsps. Propolis Resin
2 tsps. White Oak Bark
1 1/2 tsps. Alum
1 tsp. Damask Rose Petals
1 tsp. Mandrake Root, powdered^
1/4 tsp. Elder Flowers
15 X Poplar Buds
26 drops Cypress Oil
23 drops Patchouli Oil
18 drops Cinnamon Oil
15 drops Cinnamon Oil
10 drops Vetiver Oil
6 drops Camphor Oil
Combine all ingredients and allow to mature for six months in a cool, dark place. Use as needed in workings, or as offering to the spirits and powers with whom you work. You can either gather all ingredients, or a partial list thereof, and create your own blend. Be sure to take notes as you create.
^- Mandrake root is a poisonous ingredient and while it should be perfectly safe in the amount used in this incense, the smoke should still be burnt in a well-ventilated area. If you cannot access proper mandrake root (and indeed, if you cannot verify that what you have is true mandrake, as most "mandrake root" sold in apothecaries is not actually mandragora) tobacco is a solid replacement. Keep in mind it will alter the smell of the incense.
***NOTE: If pine resin is unavailable, a colophany may be added with a pine oil in the amount of three drops to each tsp of powder.
