“So,” he stated with a sigh. “I’ve been doing more reading for my thesis and I’ve come to one conclusion-”
“What do you think?”

“So,” he stated with a sigh. “I’ve been doing more reading for my thesis and I’ve come to one conclusion-”
“What do you think?”
“Yes I know it’s only 2 p.m. but I found the bar before I found my son, I’ve already managed to lose my husband, and it was not an easy flight.”
Why's that?
“Ohhh, I don’t know, why don’t you spring some huge surprise occasion that I’ve been hoping to be involved in only to reduce me to nothing more than a glorified paperchaser. Maybe then we’ll talk. Sound good? Great.”
“I had no idea what I was doing wrong though.”

Numb. Days ago, Adriana and the team of Percy’s companions had rescued him and Jason from the clutches of the Cult, yet that was how she’d felt since. There had been no whooping for joy or relieved exchanges of hugs. As soon as Nico had been handed off for the medical care he needed, the daughter of Mars had slipped away into the shadows, fully aware that among the son of Poseidon’s circle of friends, she was not welcome, regardless of what she’d risked to aid their mission. But it wasn’t the lack of companionship that had been plaguing her; rather, it was two far more personal phenomena. One, the still-standing issue of Reyna’s disspearance, and two, her exposure.
There was no questioning the fact that some of the escaped Cult members had recognized her among the rescuing force. By now, surely the entire organization knew of her betrayal. No longer could she claim to be one of them. In a way, it was freeing, like a massive years’ worth of weight had finally been lifted from her shoulders, but accompanying that relief was the complicated sensation of having become lost. What was she good for now? She couldn’t continue her espionage within the underground and without any outstanding leads on Reyna’s location, she’d been thrust into a complete crossroads. It was foul and conflicting, but she felt a part of herself longing to return to that frightful organization, if only to restore in herself some sense of clear purpose.
She’d been sitting wordlessly in her makeshift office (the Order still in repair) until her thoughts eventually escaped her mind and formed a troublesome statement. Little did she know that someone would be around to hear it.
“You totally can’t do it. Skill like this takes years of practice.”
“Sorry for staring into space while you were talking. My mind is always on food.”
