Fun with Amazon, UPS, and a Missing Apartment #
UPS Tracking, yesterday evening: We could not deliver the package you shipped to a friend for his birthday because of an incomplete address
Me (to Amazon), yesterday evening: Hi, UPS tracking says that they couldn't deliver this package because of an incomplete address. It looks like the apartment number is missing from the address on the order I placed. It should be apartment J.
Amazon, late last night: I'm sorry to know that your "Boys & Girls" didn't arrive by the estimated delivery date of Sep 25. 2012. In my experience, late packages arrive not long after the estimated delivery date. Please wait a little longer, until Sep 27, 2012, before requesting a refund replacement. Otherwise, you might have to deal with returning a package. When your order does arrive there's no need to contact us. However, if you haven't received it by Sep 27.2012, please let us know through the link below and we'll be happy to get a replacement for you.
Me (to self), late last night: WTF? Did they not even read what I wrote? Goddammit...
Amazon, early this morning: UPS let us know that they are unable to deliver your package to the address provided. To solve this problem, please contact UPS at 1-800 PICK UPS (1-800-742-5877) to provide a correct address or additional delivery information.
Me (to UPS), not quite as early this morning: Hi, I received an email from Amazon regarding an order I placed. They told me I needed to call you and update the address.
UPS: Okay, what is the shipping number.
Me (to self): Have you guys thought of changing your tracking number system so that it would be easier to give out on the phone? Maybe two random words? "Glottal duck"? Or maybe a shorter alpha-numeric string? 1z5?
UPS: Okay, is it apartment J?
UPS: It looks like it was updated yesterday
Me (to self): Sonuvabitch...
