TLDR; at the bottom
I work as a delivery driver for a Philly cheesesteak restaurant. My job is pretty easy, just dishes and food prep and deliveries. Today we had a customer order, and I donāt know if he misspoke on the phone with the server or if the server pressed the wrong button or what, but the street number on the address was wrong. I followed navigation to a car dealership and immediately called him because I was expecting an apartment complex. He answers, sounding a bit out of it, and I ask āHi, Iām just wondering if ____ car dealership is the right address?ā and he apparently decided not to listen to my question and just impatiently goes āyeah yeah yeah, just bring it around back.ā So I go around back and ask several employees if they know where I can find this person and they all say theyāve never heard of him. So I call him again and say āI went around back and didnāt see you. Are you sure ____ dealership is the right place?ā And he finally hears me and tells me āNO I told you itās an apartment! Canāt you do your job??ā I calmly answer āIām sorry sir, you told me this was the right place but I guess the number on the ticket was wrong. Can you give me your address again?ā Heās getting even more impatient as he answers āitās ####, like I said when I ordered!ā So I (as politely as I can muster) say āIām sorry sir, I didnāt take your order, I apologize if there was a mix up of numbers. Iāll be there shortly.ā So it turns out, his actual address is still 6 mins away, and when I finally get there I call again so he can open the door for me and he says āI donāt want to go out again and you not be there!ā So I repeat the address to him and describe my surroundings to assure him Iām in the right place this time. He hangs up in the middle of me talking and eventually makes his way to the door. I immediately start apologizing for the confusion and he cuts me off saying āthereās no confusion, you guys just donāt know what youāre doing. I wouldāve tipped you very well if you knew how to do your fucking job.ā (I doubt he wouldāve tipped more than 5% honestly) I apologize again, thank him for his patience and leave, trying to keep him from seeing the tears welling up in my eyes. Fuck him for blaming me when this was all because of a miscommunication between him and whoever took his order, fuck him for not listening to my question the first time I called, and fuck him for not tipping just because he couldnāt be bothered to communicate better.
TLDR; fuck customers who blame employees when theyāre the ones who donāt listen to questions.
