Independence Day
A girl who travels has learned how to dance barefoot. She’s learned to place her toes in the sand and dance through rhythm, not through rehearsed footwork. She’s learned to follow what she likes, not what she needs to like.

Depending on anybody is truly humiliating. You are not in control of your own life, somebody else is. I remember this one time when my brother had to take me to the ophthalmologist. He wasn't keen so I had to be overzealous and walk on egshells for him to finally accept. That was so frustrating. It happened once and that was enough for me. I simply cannot imagine having to live your entire life like that. Personal responsability and sovereignty truly are the two most important traits, nothing is superior to that. Being self-reliable can sometimes be tough but it is totally worth it. Having to beg others for validation, materials or emotional fulfillment seems like Hell. It must be exhausting.
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” - Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning
