I think I realized on this vacation that we come to #IndianPass for the #tranquility and #peace. For years I’ve been chasing this idea of “old Florida” and what that means. I heard my parents stories of living in Cocoa Beach on Merritt Island when they were roughly the age I am now. I remember visiting the Smith family as a child and being awestruck by the fact that the street they lived on ended in a reef filled with lazy manatees chewing undersea cud like the cows back home munch on grass. To me, old Florida means cedar siding, sandy toes, noses burned by the Sun, and easy greetings from sun-drenched islanders like the ones we’ve received on this trip.
