Hello and happy shitty holiday! I was thinking about making a playlist for today (just songs I was thinking about while cooking) but honestly all I've got is this. Whatever the hell is going on at 1:22 is one of the best things I have heard in my life.

Though Electric Guest is based out of Los Angeles, project leader Asa Taccone seems to have come home to roost in the Bay in the new video for their latest single Dollar, a groovy hooking pop return for the duo. The music video shot across San Francisco and East Bay locales was even directed by Jorma Taccone, Asa’s brother and member of renowned The Lonely Island. Dollar is a fresh summer jam. Its video leaves me wondering... is that DeLorean hover craft for real? I want to take a spin in it down nostalgia lane if so! Dollar, which is Electric Guest’s first single on Atlantic Records, is available, here. The pair plan on releasing their debut album on the major label this October!

We’ve been waiting on pins and needles for what feels like an eternity in hopes of concrete news regarding Men I Trust’s next album. Though the Montreal trio have yet to announce a delayed release date for Oncle Jazz, they have continued to share their dreamy warped, gauzy laced music via fresh new tunes. Norton Commander (All We Need) is the latest such intoxicating treasure, and it comes with a trademark nostalgia laden music video from the group, featuring Emma Proulx cruising in a vintage car, lit in golden rays of sunshine. All that’s missing is the yellow subtitles that fans had grown accustomed to in many of Men I Trust’s earlier videos. Emma’s sweet cooing glides through the song’s wonky, languorous soundscape. Norton Commander, like many of Men I Trust’s other songs, is subtle with its melancholy as well as a touch of unsettled eeriness that Twin Peaks fans would love, but not so illusive with its deep longing. Follow along with Men I Trust on tumblr, here, as we long emphatically for that next full length.
