Thoughts under cut
I made a proposal to the tribal government and it was immediately accepted. Between proposal and execution - it took 2 weeks. Now I'm invited to he tribal meeting and the more I learn about the inner workings, the more I feel there is both opportunities and fear for why those opportunities are there.
It is abundantly clear no one in this tribal government understands tribal affairs, what their duties are beyond the immediate tasks given, and it's been hinted at that the reason Ive been invited to the meeting is because they realize I do know all lot about governance and tribal affairs and how to make and execute ideas/plans. It scares me that such seasoned ppl don't know these things, it scares me that they are in a very good spot to petition for federal recognition and yet have no strategy for it's execution. And I freaked out when I first made these realizations.
Post freak out. I do see that this is a major opportunity. I like being active, taking action, and getting things done. I just fear weather I'm going to be asked to do all the Cacikes work here bc proclamation aside, they don't even have any support documents, no constitution, no governing docs, no bylaws. They have UN work, but no tribal affairs work. It's frustrating to see this. And I am reconsidering my involvement because of this in combination with the ONLY government work performed is to support Isn'treal. Like you do not have a supporting doctrine, you have zero regonition support, but you have a Isn'treal support doctrine? You claim no political aligences and to support no political stances as a tribe, but you are as a tribe taking a hard stance? Absolutely not. And the tipping point of me was being asked to help mass report dissenter. I'm not here for this behavior. I didn't support it when I happened on Tumblr, I am not going to support it in a tribal space.
So the next natural question is, When do I do from here? Because I don't have a clue.
