It is now the second Friday of the eleventh month. I find myself not knowing what book to pick up and not sure which one to continue this close to the end of the year. I have too many options.
This week, I have decided to sweep the slate clean and make a list of books I have not mentioned. The library books I will be reading are the Secrets of the Vinyl Café by Stuart McLean and War Girls by Tochi Onyebuchi. I have meant to begin reading Stuart McLean ever since I took a class on creative non-fiction and the professor showed a video of him telling a humorous and touching story. Since then the beloved radio host on CBC has passed away, but only now I am getting to read his stories.
The second library book I have chosen for this week is War Girls by Tochi Onyebuchi. It is the story of two sisters in a war-torn future Nigeria. The sequel to the book, Rebel Sisters is being released next week on November 17th, 2020.
A novel that wasn’t on my list last week, but I have since started is His Majesty’s Dragon. By the time this post goes up, I would have read more. It is the book I have chosen to read while on the exercise bike. I anticipate continuing with it on the weekend.
Two books I finished this past week were One by One by Ruth Ware, and The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco.
Here is the list for this week:
1. Secrets of the Vinyl Café; Or, Closer to the Truth Than We’ve Ever Been by Stuart McLean
2. War Girls by Tochi Onyebuchi
3. His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novik
4. Love After the End edited by Joshua Whitehead
5. The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
6. Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz
