HEY YO!
I’m an indigenous Latina artist who would like your support. I have created sad and spicy on Instagram (@sadandspicy) voicing my opinions about the US Latinx experience I’ve had. I personally want to stop indigenous erasure, creating monoculture in Latin America, and addressing and trying to stop anti-blackness and anti-indigenous attitudes in the Latinx community. I am a brown girl who has lived in America for her whole life and I have come across many white people that have treated me as an inferior and have called me derogatory names, but it doesn't bother me as much compared to when the Latinx community has some major problems in their mentality (not everyone just saying). Latinxs come in so many shapes and sizes and there is not looks for anyone and trying to say that a paler Latinx or a darker Latinx is not Latinx is not correct. Im tired of the fetishization and the erasure of my people from the map. I am a descendant of a tribe that I am very proud of but for some reason people think we’re not here and we’re not hurting under racism and socioeconomic problems. Erasing black people in Latin America just erases slavery and further the denial that black people can be Latinx too. I just want to reach people who feel hopeless like I did at some point in my life. I want to reach people who want to see tomorrow full of black and brown kids living together, loving themselves, being successful. Thank you!
