I thought about Indura! Meliodas au and I wonder… how would the other commandments react to him if and when they get released? True he is a lot more vocal and has the majority of his kind back but his memories are still scattered and he’s definitely still an Indura, through and through
Actually, I already had this written out in my docs and I was just waiting for when I could add it, lmao.
Fraudrin releases the Ten Commandments, and watches with glee as they reform. Finally!
As the demons rest on the glass mountain, regaining their strength, he fills them in on things. He tells them about how humans have advanced and the states and strengths of all the clans.
"There is... one other thing you should know." He states this to Zeldris specifically, Estarossa behind him. "It's about Meliodas."
He tensed. "What about him?"
"He showed up in Liones about 15 years ago, but he was... different."
"Well, I'd assume so, after 3000 years."
"No, that's not what I meant, I mean, YES, but also-"
"Just spit it out, Fraudrin."
"He's not MELIODAS anymore."
"What does that mean?"
Fraudrin took a breath. "Fifteen years ago, an Elite team was sent to deal with a demonic issue. The next day, their Captain, the Mage Merlin, walked into Liones with a Vaguely Draconic hellbeast on her tail. An Indura."
Zeldris's eyed widened as he started to understand. "It didn't take me long to recognize who it used to be. Meliodas has turned Indura. And I don't know how long he had been so before he was brought to Liones."
"Meliodas... has turned Indura..." He repeated, stunned. Him and Estarossa exchanged looks, and grimaced. "Thank you for informing us."
"Yes, your majesties, of course."
"Do you know what his state of-"
Before they could continue, a powerful presence swept over them and a dark blur landed in front of them.
_-_-_-_-_
Meliodas bounced around his friends, his mate, his kit, enjoying the celebration. The Holy War was averted, he doesn't have to worry‐
He froze, one paw in the air, entire body taught as he gazed off in the distance. His ears were straight up, then swiveled down and back.
....Maybe not.
"Meliodas? Are you alright?" Elizabeth asked worriedly, hands clasped. This broke him from his trance and he trotted over, winding around her comfortingly. "Worry not, my dear. Sensed something. Will go check. Stay here. You're safe." She nodded Hesitantly and he looked to his Kit, who he knew also sensed it. "Mer. Stay? Protect?"
"Yes. Be safe."
"Always am!"
"Don't lie to my face like that."
He just laughed as he took a running leap and flew off. It took him about two hours of flight to reach where he sensed them and landed there.
...He didn't mean to make such a big dust cloud.
When it cleared, he was sitting there, wings folded on his back as he looked at them with a tilted head.
...So that's where Glox and Drole had gotten to.
Horror flashed over Zeldris’s face, before he masked it with a hard look. This was... well, definitely USED to be Meliodas. And he was most certainly an Indura. But there was an intelligence in his eyes he hadn't seen in others.
He bounded over, and Zeldris braced for an attack, but Meliodas put a paw on the pommel of his sword and started SNIFFING him. Zeldris could only stand there, looking very startled and VERY confused as the Indura that had once been his brother started investigating him, then repeating the process with Estarossa, then the rest of the commandments. He growled a little at Fraudrin in Dreyfus's body and bounded away from him to greet Gloxinia instead, he patted his head in a baffled sort of way. He finally snorted, and looked back to his brothers.
Zeldris spoke up almost warily. "...Meliodas?"
"Yes."
They jolted back. He could TALK.
"Wha-" He sighed. "What the fuck are you?"
"Indura."
"But you're SENTIENT."
"Am, yes. Wasn't at first. Took time. Have nothing but."
"...Why are you talking like that?"
"Only way CAN talk. Mind sort of there. Not all. Still Indura. Still degraded."
"Why are you here?"
"To talk."
"There is nothing to talk about. Especially not with an ANIMAL. Why do we not just kill you now, hm?"
He laughed, sounding a little like a hyena. "You could TRY."
"Is that a challenge-"
"No. Sire cursed me. Cannot die. No matter how hard try. You kill me? I come back even LESS whole. Less sane."
"You're immortal."
"Yes. Can die. Will always revive. Trust me, have tried. Many, many times."
"How do we know that?"
"Look at me, stupid."
Derieri snickered but covered it quickly.
She and Monspeet were the only two to have an idea what it was like for him. Even if they'd only been Indura for like, an hour.
Meliodas huffed and his ears flicked. "I wanna talk YOU. Just you."
Zeldris eyed him, but nodded slowly. Meliodas leapt over the glass structures, and settled by the pit in the center. Zeldris jumped over and landed next to him, though, he kept a safe distance.
"Your mate, not where you left her. She safe! Don't worry. Other vampires, not so much. Did my best to keep her alive. She... down there. Revealed."
"Gelda is in HERE?"
"Yes. I made hole, my kit sealed Gelda."
"You have a kit?"
"She is mage. Adopted. Love her still."
"I see. Her name wouldn't happen to be Merlin, would it?"
"That her, yes. How you know?"
"Fraudrin mentioned her."
"Purple bastard."
He didn't laugh, though he felt a curl of amusement. "...Thank you."
"Yes. Knew you love her. Couldn't hurt kins mate. Sorry could not do more."
"...Her being alive is enough."
"Good. I take leave, then."
"Where are you going?"
"My mate. Ellie is... reborn. Human. Same soul."
"So she died?"
"...Yes."
"Is that why you're like... this?"
"...A part."
"How did this happen?"
"Just... did. Lonely, tired. Mate gone. Kit gone. Kin gone, entire CLAN, gone. Know I have no right to miss them. But did. Hurt a lot and spent many years alone. Tried to die. Ended up in Purgatory. Father told me immortal. Torture me some, send me back. Tried again. Torture me some, send me back. Tried again. Torture me some, send me back. After while... gave up trying. Let mind go. Was Indura with NO mind for many hundred years. Merlin found me. Helped me. Gave me company, helped me get back what I have."
"...How of you is there?"
"...Not all."
"How much do you remember?"
"......Not all. Flashes, mostly. I... recognize people. Recognize feelings most of time. Can recall bits of person. But everything... hazy. Hurts to think too hard. Even Ellie, It's all... out of focus. Even YOU."
"Hm. So what's gonna happen when battle breaks out?"
"If it comes down to it, I will protect Mer and Ellie. But, I do not want war. And I do not think you want it either. Nor do very many. It comes in flashes, yes, but I remember the blood and screams and slaughtered. Of both sides! The only ones who truly want this to continue are the Gods, I think. And probably Ludociel, he is bastard."
Zeldris did snort this time, but conceded his point. "...I do not want war, but if I am given a direct order by the Demon King..."
"Then you can not disobey. I understand." He smiled at him, revealing sharp teeth. "Even so. I am glad you are back. I have missed you. You do look well. Ish. Bit pale, but that is expected."
He looked down into the pit, hand clenching. "...You are a traitor, and you leaving hurt immensely. I know you offered for me to come along, but I could not leave Gelda alone, even if she was sealed."
"...I know."
"...but I did miss you too."
Be gave a quiet croon. "Sorry for making you hurt."
"...Not forgiven. But understood."
"Good enough."
"Go, get out of here. I'll see what I can do to minimalize casualties."
"Thank you, Zeldris." He butted his shoulder gently, then took a few bounds before lifting off, and flying back over the commandments. He did go a different direction, detouring until he was over the horizon. All in all, he was gone for about six hours, and Elizabeth hugged him as soon as he got back. "I was so worried when Merlin explained! The demons were unsealed? You went to them?? Why? Are you hurt??"
He laughed quietly and pressed against her before separating. "We just talked. I am unhurt. Wanted to see them, because... well. I am demon, you know this. Had family in seal. Wanted to talk to them."
"Oh... You're really not hurt?"
"Really."
She sagged, relieved, and he nosed her gently, prodding her towards her room in the castle. "Is late. Come, rest."
"But where will you sleep?"
"Will rest where I find space to rest." She frowned and starting pulling him. "Just come lay with me, it's what we normally do anyways."

Thinking how hurt Monspeet would be if Derieri wasn't fully purified by Elizabeth, and is now is stuck between her indura form/normal form. Being forced to see your lover be sealed away early in fear of going berserk, then getting sealed for another 3000 years.
Then Monspeet and the others wake up from the seal, wondering where she is but realizing she isn't there because she was sealed earlier but only Monspeet knows that. Him yearning for her so much that when the commandments spilt up he just abandons ship and goes on his own to learn how to break her seal and finally be with her.
