The downside to writing a whole AU for a year and a half on your own is that there’s so much material to build on and branch off of that you start making AUs of that AU that you can’t even begin to share because they wouldn’t make sense or carry the weight they should BECAUSE PEOPLE HAVEN’T READ THE FIRST ONE
