Tony's biggest fear was turning out like his father. Scratch that. Tony thought he was his father. He promised himself he'd never be a dad, the generational trauma ends with him.

That's until he met Peter Parker. Tony tried not to get attached, he tried to stay away, but Peter wormed his way into Tony's heart.

Tony had Peter over on weekends, they worked together, they had movie nights, it was all good. Too good.

Tony loved Peter, but he couldn't help feeling like the time they spend together was almost like a ticking bomb. Something bad was going to happen. Something terrible.

He shoved that voice to the back of his mind. Nothing is going to happen. Peter's safe, he's made sure of it. Peter has more protocols in his suit than Tony has money. "Peter's safe." he'd tell himself, but he'd wake up breathless in cold sweat after dreaming about losing him.

"Peter's safe" but is he? Who's that "Thanos" Bruce is talking about?

"Peter's safe" aliens from New York...they're back. Peter isn't safe. Peter is here.

"Peter's safe" he sent him home, there's no way they're going get him now. Except he didn't. Peter's in space.

"Is peter safe?" Tony couldn't stop thinking.

"Why's everyone turning into dust- Peter? God no. You're safe. You're-"

"You're alright."

"I got you. You're okay. You're not going anywhere, kiddo. Peter?"

Peter isn't safe. Peter's dead. He knew something was wrong. He should've trusted his instincts. He should've stayed away, maybe it wouldn't have hurt as bad then.

PETER CAM! || headcanon

Peter sometimes hides on the ceiling of the lab and tries to scare Tony as he walks in. Sometimes he’ll film it to try and get his reaction.

Peter and Tony talk in this weird mix of Morse code and sign language. They learned it together to communicate in stealth on missions, but now they just do it casually in place of words.

In a deep focus with his headphones on, Peter taps S-C-R-E-W-D-R-I-V-E-R rhythmically on the table in the lab. Tony nods and throws it to him, then signs NEED AGAIN IN A MINUTE back to him.

On a stakeout, Peter sees the guy they’re after and signs Tony— LOOK. RIGHT SIDE. Tony says “huh?” and Peter shushes him, signs STUPID, and jerks his head over to where the guy is. Tony signs back, WATCH YOUR ATTITUDE.

After an overwhelming day, Peter starts to shut down. Tony can tell. He signs LIGHTS OFF? Peter nods, and signs back THANK YOU.

In a dimly lit abandoned building, Tony stalks through the hallways, desperately trying not to catch the attention of Peter’s captors. He’s pressed against a wall, holding his breath, when he hears it— reverberating through the metal vents, a faint banging, spelling out H-E-L-P. H-E-L-P. H-E-L-P. Over and over. He’s sure it isn’t an accident— that’s his boy, calling out to him in a way that only he’ll understand. He finds him, bloody and bruised, gag in his mouth. The kid cries out when he sees him, and Tony shushes him and signs IT’S OKAY. YOU’RE SAFE. STAY QUIET. YOU AND ME ARE GOING HOME.
