Recently I started learning how to heal IS and pug 100% of my runs x.x since the people I used to run with on my SW either quit or stop running IS. I sort of love pug runs because you can learn how to apply different combination of skills in different situations. I’ve noticed majority of players running IS now still don’t know their part so I decided to share some of the information I had gathered thru all my runs. Feel free to add if anyone can think of anything else that may be helpful.
POSITION:
Range DPS it is best that you DPS from the position marked with the red circle on the image above. The following action should be taken when you see Hyperion faces/target you or someone from your group...
Hyperion targets you: run up the ramp a bit while the rest of the DPS run down to where cleric stand.
Hyperion targets another DPS group member: This member should run up the ramp while you run down towards where cleric stand.
Hyperion targets Cleric: Stay and DPS! No need to move as Cleric should move towards where the Generator used to be.
Range DPS should watch for two AOE skills (assuming you're not standing right behind Hyperion's arse) Powerful Energy Blast and Cast Ide Energy.
Powerful Energy Blast: Can 1 shot you (and maybe your group members so reference the above note) if you have low HP. Cleric will most likely use Noble Grace to give you some HP boost but the skill have 3 minutes CD. If you do not see cleric cast this skill by the time Hyperion's Powerful Energy Blast charge by 75% then use evasion/dodge skills to avoid or pop a shield to soften the damage.
Cast Ide Energy: This skill will drain your MP mostly and some HP so it won't kill you. Just prep to use some MP potions/skills while staying away from cleric and you should be fine.
Melee DPS need to see who's tanking, where tanker stand and stand in the opposite of tanker. To put it simpler, if you're not tanking then you should be looking at Hyperion's arse. For any reason you end up with Hyperion aggro then run to where tanker stand until aggro is off you then go back to looking at Hyperion's arse. Tanker, if you lose Hyperion's aggro and you know you can't get it back then go look at Hyperion's arse while BGing the Melee tanker. This will help healers to heal easier and smoother. ADD/MOB: Kill them in this order Sorc/Mage/Sniper while the rest don't matter because Sorc/Mage will most likely 1 shot you with its Protectorate Smash skill. Be prepare to stun/silence/fear etc when you see Sorc/Mage use that skill (Protectorate Smash) to prevent it from finish casting. If you get 2 Sorcs with a lot of adds then just sleep/fear 1 Sorc/adds, kill the other Sorc, kill the remain Sorc and then take care of the rest of adds. Cleric will most likely cast Brilliant Protection (if not on CD) to try and save the group so stay in range. Objective is to kill Sorc/Mage above all other adds and put your class skills to use effectively. Once done with those balaur adds then kill the hand add(s) because they might turn your cleric to a reian, and that will render them helpless in healing you. Cleric remember to bring Greater Healing Potion to dispel yourself in this situation! If you’re done with the adds on your side, and you see that the other group still have a lot of adds then by all means go help them. Do not idle and waste time while the other group is dying.
RANDOM TIPS:
Cleric need to check on the duration of HOR before recasting. I said this because the HOR I cast a minute or so prior would get override and I find that wasteful.
DPS from both sides, G1/G2, should pay attention to adds that spawn. Grab them quickly because.. they will target your Cuber or other group healer which may result in killing them. Run may end up being tougher or worst case failure.
DPS it is best that you run up the ramp to aggro mobs, and run down to be in range of your cleric so he/she can heal you. This is important because 1 or 2 thing could happen if you decide to DPS the mobs out of your cleric heal range of 25m...
You'll die up top because Cleric top priority is to keep tanker alive. Only when Hyperion have his shield up will the Cleric move from his/her spot.
Cleric chose to run up and keep you alive while tanker die, which may result in a more hectic or fail run.
Chanter: I find that it is best that Word of Quickness is cast on G2 after Hyperion’s 3rd attack on tanker because a lot of time DPS don’t start until after the 3rd hit so that is just a waste. Casting Word of Wind about 50% or 40%+ depending on how good DPS is.
SW/Chanter from both group should keep an eye out for Cuber’s HP just in case. Majority of the time clerics cannot leave their spot from healing tanker but you can easily do that.
Cuber: It is vital that you bring Self Revival stones at all times and potions. Whenever a Sorc/Mage hit you with a debuff skill just pop your shield and potions, that should suffice in bringing your HP back up while waiting for DPS to grab the adds away from you. SW if you’re cubing do not use Resonant Hymn on yourself. I’m not sure why but once you use that group MP skill Hyperion will register you in his “kill list” and will aim to kill you. I’m not too sure if that’s a bug or not, but that’s what I’ve noticed.
Songweaver: It isn’t your job to spoon feed people with MPs but it is greatly appreciate that you give it to tanker when you see that he/she is not recovering it. The rest should be able to up-keep their MPs, but getting those MPs fill from you is a bonus.
Run will always go smoother and better if everyone works together instead of fixated on needless thing like... Highest DPS. What's the whole point of having that if your run end up a fail run? Success run is always better than a fail run with high DPS. I’m still new to this healing business, and up for any suggestion to improve further. I hope this post help more than making it worst for those who came across it x.x
My baby cleric got skinned lol!^^
Now I’m a flower.
Today we went IS with legion and I got weapons x2, mace and staff. So it was fun and great for me. Went there with my babe too @alexandarwitcher
Guess who just learned resooooo?
‘Bout fucking time.
Idgel Haste Cube
I was doing resos last night for a pug run (only three legionmates in the run, everyone else had CD) and all was going relatively smooth... until the very end.
Suddenly those "Ide charge complete, Hyperion ultimate attack imminent" and "Hyperion has disappeared into another dimension" messages came up. I proceeded to freak out, because I had killed the resos I was supposed to and couldn't figure out what I did wrong. D:
Well, Hyperion ended up not disappearing, and instead some gigantic reso called an "Idgel Haste Cube" appeared dead center in front of me. I tried to kill it, but it had a shield, so I proceeded to panic. :D In the midst of my panic I noticed the right reso spawn again, so I decided to ignore said gigantic reso and kill the normal one. Then I noticed that the left reso had spawned and already had Hyperion targeted, meaning it had already buffed him, and I very nearly had a massive heart attack. Thankfully, the group downed Hyperion before that became an issue. |D
I did notice that the run seemed to drag on a bit longer than usual... Is this what happens when you run out of time in IS? ;P I've never actually run out of time in that instance before, so idk. XD
Infinity Shard ~ I got my harp :3 I've been casually doing IS when people ask me, but with the harp I have 4 pieces, meaning I can probably use them in replacement for my officer gear to save augment :D It means spending kinah though >.> and MB stones are at 2mil each, I want to spend kinah on skins and to +15 my EB harp D:
Today i finally managed to complete Infinity Shard on Aion... I think this is the most hardcore-grinding shit that i've done since i catched Mewtwo or some sort of old shit like that.
(i got fucking eternal boots, fml)
Yay...I completed my first run on IS as a DPS for once. FINALLY I GOT TO DO SOMETHING AS A GLAD. :)
Shame I only got an Eternal necklace. *LECRY*
