Actually going insane over Book 1 Lake saying “I don’t even have a name. I’m still nothing. I’m nothing at all” and Tulip immediately insisting, “No, you’re someone.”
like it drives me crazy that Lake's first supporter on their journey to find themself is Tulip. She believes in Lake before they believe in themself. Tulip, who by no fault of her own, held Lake back in a certain way, was the first to stand by Lake’s side. Even after Lake initially was going to leave Tulip trapped.
And the specific phrasing of Tulip saying to Lake “you’re someone” is so crucial. She doesn't correct Lake to say "you're something", she specifically chooses someone. Tulip is arguably the first one to acknowledge and see Lake as a person. When you consider Lake’s journey going forward being their insistence that they are a PERSON, that they are someone, it makes this scene so much harder.
