Crouching in a corner of the hall, not exactly hidden but far enough away from anyone else, X wrung his hands out nervously. Bullies in the house were numerous, and apparently today he'd just gotten in the way again. While he was in clear sight of anyone that would come down the hall toward him, if anyone came up from the opposite end of the hall he should be easy to ignore. Fighting back wasn't his thing, and though running away could be embarrassing, he vaguely valued his life.

Hearing footsteps come down the hall, he clenched his hands into nervous fists and pressed himself further into the corner. There were footsteps coming from behind him, as well as louder steps coming from the end of the hallway that he could be seen from. 

He whined and hid his face behind his hands, standing up and hoping what he had seen from others fighting could prove useful.

Kiyomi sighed and leaned in to give the goggle-eyed boy a kiss so light they could barely feel it.

It hadn't been a long while when Mello was walking into the house. He wasn't doing anything he couldn't put aside to come home and answer Matt's important question. Besides he was getting curious. "I'm home" he announced shutting the door behind him, he arrived with grocery bags as well, placed them over the little table in the middle of the living room.
