on the other side personal review (some spoilers)
This is a bit different from my usual posts but I felt like I needed to share this with you all. I'm not usually one to pick up a "romance novel" and considering on the other side is depicted as "a love story like no other" it's a miracle I even started to read it. However I am a big supporter of Carrie Hope Fletcher and her work and ,after hearing a lot about Evie and Vincent in her videos over the past year or so, began to anticipate the book's release. And I can truly say that I have never been more captivated by a book (excluding Harry Potter of course!). I started the novel on Thursday morning and had finished it by the time Friday night rolled in! I fell in love with Evie's compassion, strength and the effect that she had on the lives of those around her. I adored the raw connection she had with Vincent and their adventure together with Little One. Although it took me a moment or two to realise that certain events required looking beyond the realms of reality I was pleasantly surprised by the presence of magic and thought that it allowed me to better see the world from Evie's wonderful point of view. As I have followed Itwaypastmybedtime and PetesJams for a couple of years now I could certainly see many similarities that Pete and Carrie (and friends) shared with the characters (not to mention the wonderfully subtle Disney references and Evie's introduction as a "Hopeful"). Whether a deliberate choice or not, as a Hopeful myself I felt somewhat privileged that I could see the creators that I have come to love in Carrie's work and could not be prouder of her as a member of the community that she's created. Although I admit that this does prove me to be slightly biased towards her work I forced myself to read with an open mind and promise you that I would not have finished the book so quickly had I not thoroughly enjoyed it! The ending made me cry tears of joy and I look forward to any future work that Carrie has in mind! Much love xx @carriehopefletcher
