On The Other Side Review
So I finished On The Other Side by Carrie Hope Fletcher two days ago now and have thought about my opinions and watched a few other reviews so I'd like to put my opinion So I'm gonna start with a few things that bugged me cause I like when reviews are chronological and end on a happy note, which would both be accomplished by me doing this. I had two minor issues with this story. 1. Sometimes the grammar and sentence structure was odd and being a tiny bit of a grammar bug it distracted me some, also exactly one sentence was missing a word. 2. The timeline was almost so fluid that even though I'm the future the past parts will seem perfectly normal, it tries to date itself and fails in the form of two items. The use of the word pansexual and the one use of a cellphone by her brother. I only say that cause as soon as I read that someone has died I immediately want to know when they were born XD but on a positive note it does create a sort of timelessness about the book which is an overall good thing I think. Positives! 1. The story was so heartfelt and artistic. 2. The characters all had wonderful and unique voices, now I say unique as in none of the characters in the book mimic each other like they sometimes can with siblings/friends/children in other books, which I greatly appreciate 3. I loved the whimsy and yet realistic approach, though Magic got more powerful as the book progressed that almost seemed natural, though that last secret seemed more out there then the others at first, I realized it really wasn't after reflection. 4. It creates a world I would love to live in, where you find a personal heaven as long as you are a good person and all you have to do is be brave enough to face your fears to reach it. 5. I didn't get stumped reading this book! Often with fluffier books or books I really love (which this is both) I will want to stop reading for a while and then restart where I left off awhile later, but I read this book in less then two weeks with a slightly busy schedule even. Overall I loved this book and am so appreciative to Carrie for writing it and my boyfriend for giving it to me for Christmas! I wouldn't say it is for everyone but if you like it, you probably love it and it really excites me for Carries next book! P.S. I know this is out of the blue, but maybe I'll make this a regular thing maybe... P.P.S Jim is my favorite Character from the book :)
