Alertheid en Informatieverwerking
Attention concerns, among other things, alertness and the speed or pace of information processing.
Alertness is the degree to which you are awake and alert. When you are alert, you can notice what is happening in your environment and in your body.
You need a certain amount of alertness or awareness throughout the day. For example in your family, at work, in traffic, in contacts with others, and so on.
“Wat vroeger vanzelf ging kost me nu veel moeite”
Brain injury can reduce or increase your alertness. Brain damage usually slows the speed of information processing.
Problems with information processing are increasing under time pressure and in a busy environment. A slower rate of information processing has consequences for the focusing and distribution of attention and the recording, storage and retrieval of information.
Describe a situation in which you suffer from a slowed-down rate of information processing.
Shopping in an outlet, too busy environment, with too many stimuli from people but also looking for offers, for example.
How do you deal with this now?
I do this once a year and make sure I am well prepared. I plan exactly which stores I want to visit and what I look for there. I also provide plenty of rest while shopping.
What other solutions can you come up with for this?
Usually I order online now.
When I go to the supermarket I make a list of groceries and try at a quiet time of the day.
What tips can you use for this?
Make sure I am not tired and have enough rest. Alternate physical and mental activities.
