Scrappy Starter for @infortunii

Anger flares red hot, from his head down his spine to pool in his gut. Aqua eyes flash in sudden fury, and before Barty can reason himself down from the mad little impulse, he’s thrown a punch.
He’d thought, maybe, Branwen wouldn’t be a total asshole. And maybe Branwen wasn’t, he’d just chosen the worst possible time to nettle at Barty, striking his insecurities when Barty was nearly at his own snapping point from arguments with his Teammates that morning.
“Shut up shut up SHUT UP!”
@infortunii
Inhaling deeply, the man sits alone at the small table tucked to the side of the living room. Exhaustion prominent on his features. A single lamp illuminates the space surrounding him, allowing him enough light to read over the paperwork scattered sloppily about. With a single hand pressed against his throbbing forehead, the general attempts to read the paper concerning changes to the academy again.
None of it sinks. Not a single word manages to venture further than the page. All of it staring back at him. Mocking him for his current state of being.
He was used to the phantom pains by now. The body crying out from pieces of himself that simply didn’t exist any longer. Urging the man to feel at his arm. Ensure that it was metal. Throw himself back into the tight, suffocating grasp of both guilt and regret. Agony and despair.
Another sigh leaves him as he closes his eyes. Runs his hands down his face. Adjusts his position in the chair. Lifts his head at the sudden noise coming from another section of the room.
“Qrow,” he breathes, eyeing the man quietly as he hastily pieces himself back together. “...Couldn’t sleep?”

Graduation day felt like a tiny memory from years passed. Yet it had only happened a week or so ago, perhaps even too. Days started to blur together while working with the Ace Ops and breaks incredibly few and far between. However the small threads of fate had finally aligned and graced Ruby with something long sought after:
A day off.
Most of her team had gone off and done their own thing, but being the teenager that she was, Ruby was content to lay in bed most of the day. Atlas school uniforms came with surprisingly comfortable pajama sets and she was going to take full advantage of it. At least until her mind found wanderlust to explore the floating kingdom.
Lazing comfortably in her bunk, scroll in hand perusing what little connectivity an isolated CCT tower could offer, she wasn’t expecting to hear the door open so soon.
“You guys already back-oh?” She didn’t expect to see a lanky man walking through the door. “Hey Uncle Qrow. You got the day off too or did you need something?”
@infortunii gets a Harriet starter
“So, it looks like you and I are working together today, huh?” Harriet asked as she sauntered up next to him. “I have to admit, I’ve been curious about you, so this could be...interesting, to say the least. As long as you can keep up with me.” Her eyes briefly flickered yellow with her semblance.
From here
“Really?” He paused to think about it. “Well... I guess I could see it if you factor in politics.” He chuckled softly.

“I know it’s not your intention to be malicious.”
Not that such knowledge made the sting any less. Yet, he could hardly argue. For each fault, failure, and tremble that the others saw, Leo knew ten. if he were a better man. More devout to the cause, or willing to sacrifice, he would have began to look for a replacement years ago. Someone younger and braver to take his place among the circle. To do what he no longer could.
But how did one choose another to unload such a terrible burden? How was he meant to call someone to his office and change their life forever in such an all consuming, terrible way?
And if he were to be entirely honest...he wasn’t ready to give it up.
Not the mission. This knowledge was a burden he’d spent years wishing he could unknow, but...his students. Questions and books and smiling faces full of such promise. Helping guide the next generation forward. Offering a comforting ear, or patient explanation.
So he made excuses. It was safe within the kingdom. The schools were secure. He was at least in good relations with his council.
“But please, don’t act as if I’m unaware of what most of our group thinks of me.” The lion stands to open a window. No longer able to simply sit and take the scent.
He’ll need to clean when Qrow leaves.
“None of us our without our faults, and if the day comes that Ozpin asks me to step down for another I will. However, until then, I will remain with the belief that I can’t be so terribly unfit for my position.”
Trembling hands and all.
