The Iglesia,  Grupo Coba, Site of Coba, view from plaza, looking east at the staircase of the main temple and its associated platforms.

As you can see from the trees growing out of the ruins, this building has been cleared and stabilized, but not fully restored.  The rope indicates that it is not safe to climb past the first landing.  The size of the people in the shot provides a sense of scale for the photo.  This is a large plaza, the staircase that the people are standing on is about 75′ wide and about fifteen feet tall. The height of the temple is estimated to have been 75 feet tall (25 meters).

In this picture, the small shrine with the thatched roof is where Stele 11 is mounted. The portion of Stele 11 mounted in the shrine is the upper part of what was once a much larger stele. This fragment was mounted in the shrine sometime between 1000 to 1250 CE during the Post-Classic period.
