The New York City Marathon Experience
So this weekend was the New York City Marathon and I went out to cheer people on. It was glorious. Seriously one of the most amazing things I've ever witnessed. It was a beautiful chilly fall day with the leaving falling from the trees. Thousands of runners completing a task that quite honestly should be humanly impossible. I love running and I love fall and I love the city of New York. Even though I wasn't running in it, I had a blast and it was a magical moment in my life.
So these were the only pictures I could get so, sorry. I watched from 70th and 1st which is basically less than a block from where I live. HOW COOL!
I'm sure you're wondering "Chels, why don't you just run a marathon yourself?" Well a) I'm terribly out of shape and can't imagine running 26.2 miles right now. b) I don't have the time or money and most importantly c) I promised one of my best friends Al 3.5 years ago that I wouldn't run a marathon until she was right there with me. She has severe osteoporosis and doctors tell her she will never run again, but I know that she will. Not because I'm a doctor but because I have faith in her and I believe in her. More importantly, I believe that Jesus can heal her if it is in his will.
So yeah, three cheers for running! Hip hip, Hooray! Hip Hip, Hooray! Hip hip! Hooray!!
