I am running 26.2 miles for the 1 in 8 women that will be diagnosed with breast cancer! Won't you please consider making a donation to this very important cause? Do donation is too small. Thank you! #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness #nycmarathon #marathontraining #fundraiser #running (at San Diego, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpatG4yvdME/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

So yesterday I ran a marathon. Yeah 26.2 miles. I keep wanting to be like “ran” but you know what, I may run slow, I may have DIED around mile 16 and then died even more around 19, and at mile 24 I genuinely was like my legs are going to stop working.... but I finished. It may have been nearly an hour more than what I wanted, but NYC, you are one hell of a course. I fully enjoyed the first half. I loved the groups of people that would cheer me on by name, which then it would go down the line of people to hear my name and also cheer me on, and I felt like I was on top of the world. I really partied with these party people. I would be like “woo yeah” and pump my fist when spectators cheered me, and I gave a ton of energy away all the way through, I sprinted over the queensboro bridge, and there was no returning from that. In the end I could not even give the spectators any energy. I needed more training, which I knew, but I was so close to being ready. I still put in so much work, and I’m trying so hard to not be mad about my legs giving out in the end. I basically knew it would happen. The elevation was a lot!!!!
Onto bigger and better things, but tbh what’s bigger & better than the NYC marathon?? All I can say is I can’t wait to make marathons my b*, come back from this better than ever. I know how I can train smarter next time. I know I will be ready next time. Watch out.

Marathon entrants today are more likely to be seeking personal validation rather than competitive victory.
When the race began at the beginning of the 1970s “running boom,” the typical entrant (who was male, all of them were) fit a now somewhat antiquated archetype of a stoic, solitary, working-class runner. Increasingly, though, the race is populated by a new demographic of runners: more recreational runner than aspiring contender, wealthier, and potentially female.
....
By 1998, Vincent Serravallo, writing in the journal Race, Gender & Class, observed that just five professions represented an outsize number of participants: attorneys, physicians, engineers, managers, and educators. At this time, men still outnumbered women almost two to one.
Help me cheer on @korionair who is running his second @nycmarathon on Sunday! So proud of him!! #nycmarathon #marathontraining #marathon https://www.instagram.com/p/B4VrraWgKLH/?igshid=1v0hu9876m27f
