An AU where they race puddlejumpers and have an illegal gambling ring. Meckles worries a lot about dying. Mike and Cam grow weed in the lower greenhouse. Cam starts a poetry slam night in the commissary.

Thanks for the good poop vibes, guys! It was a Christmas miracle tonight when he took his 4th poop of the day on the toilet instead of his pants. All because he wanted to go in the big boy pool. We'll see if it lasts. He's being particularly difficult because he's almost 4, stubborn as hell, and is really good at not caring about stuff - toys, naughty wall, treats. No pants doesn't faze him, and he's impossible to catch because he can hold it like a champion. But he was seduced by the blow up pool! Unfortunately this is the only preschool in our new neighborhood that'll bus his older bro to kindergarten, so it's either this or I'm screwed :/ May the poop gods smile down blessings upon us all. I hold out hope that tomorrow he will use the potty again.

W: 5 favorite characters from 5 different fandoms.

Well, this is going to be me saying the 5 least surprising things anyone has ever heard me say, but okay!

MCU - Bucky Barnes, for an incredibly high octane blend of competence and sadness plus canonical amnesia.

Teen Wolf - Derek Hale, for a more manageable but still intense degree of sadness combined with... trying really hard. Also, pretty eyes. And stubble. Both of which apply also to Bucky, actually.

Generation Kill - Nate Fick. I started out being a hardcore Brad fan, but a little time in the fandom made me feel all protective of just how much of a competent badass leader of competent and badass men Nate is. And I upped his woobification factor for myself by spending a lot of time imagining him, say, soulbonded to a female wolf or trying to take care of a newborn in the throes of PTSD, so, yes. Nate Fick.

Vorkosigan Saga - Aral Vorkosigan. (SERIOUSLY ARE THESE NOT THE LEAST SURPRISING ANSWERS I HAVE EVER GIVEN TO ANYTHING?) Ughhhh I like IMPRINTED on Aral as an ideal romantic hero when I was twelve years old. Smart, competent, sad, going gray, just, yes. YESSSS.

Stargate SG-1 - Daniel Jackson. GUESS WHAT HE IS BOTH SMART AND SAD. AND BETTER WITH A GUN THAN YOU MIGHT EXPECT. AND SMART. AND SAD.

I'm so stoked you listened to the whole thing. I had a fairly surprising amount of fun making it. Believe it or not, I'd kind of forgotten how much I love talking about podfic! But now I remember :)

I'm so glad that you listened (and that you made a post about your own history!), and I'm sorry that it sounds like parts of the history talked about made you sad. I hope you also heard the message that I think the fannish climate is better now for podficcers than it's ever been, and that it's an awesome time to be starting as a podficcer. And from what I've seen, VM is an awesome fandom to be podficcing in.
