#MerMay2019 Day 7. I skipped the "official" list again (not feeling the Aquabat prompt), and using #Octopus from @sketchcee and #inksplatters from @heysoleilart. I'm not entirely happy with how this #octomaid turned out but she was fun to draw nonetheless. #MerMay #sketchbook #MerMay2019Contest #coloredpencils #mermaid #gelpen #inktensepencils #Tombow #Fudenosuke #brushpen https://www.instagram.com/p/BxLXe5uFKWJ/?igshid=kr5f4ujg67xg
These Ranunculus are in the shop today, don't think we'll have them long though 😬 #ranunculus #edinburghflorist #roseandammi #prettyflowers #inksplatters #mynewfav #underthefloralspell
August Creature is one of my favorite creatures at the time. He is very outspoken and proud and is confident that he is the best. When he's not, he's still humble loud about it. It'll just be "Ah, Human Doll! You have defeated me while fighting. We must fight again so I can beat you and become the best!" August is also in a relationship to Angel and he has a habit of calling people "The ___" so he'll refer to Angel as "The Angel" or "The human Angel." It's romantic but also kinda nerdy. When they get married and stuff, August referred to Angel as "My Angel" occasionally.
So I sat down and realized, I have done a lot of work into my stories, and OCs for other stories. Like Experimentals and LGBTZ are my oldest stories, but they went through some drastic changes.
Experimental is based off of a HORRIBLE story idea I had where a dimension traveler can only meet and interact with versions of herself and while the concept is pretty cool the way I did it was really bad. After that, I turned the main characters into Outlast OCs and then I kept building and I eventually decided “YOLO I’m going to make a new story with new characters, because wow Outlast is very not my jam apparently?” So that’s how my experiementals came into play and how even now I am making more and more characters and different intertwining connections.
I might incorporate the universe jumping idea into another story because right now the Experimental story line has the options for universe traveling. It has changed drastically, how I reshaped these characters and made them human to the story setting itself.
LGBTZ is a weird thing for me because I LOVE zombies. They’re so interesting in the fact that they’re so simple and the main reason they are a problem isn’t because of the zombies but because of people. I came up with a story idea in High School where zombies break out in my high school and how I’d help save everyone and turn my high school into a safe haven. I still have various ideas on how to save people if an outbreak happened in different locations and those will all be incorporated into LGBTZ.
The biggest issue I had with Zombie fiction and discussion is that no matter what, it was led by men and women were just left to be the damsels in distress. The women who did fight were always like masculine and considered one of the guys. Also queer characters didn’t really exist unless it was to show that the main character was an OK guy. The stories were also very white based and it’s apparent the culture that these stories were geared to. So I designed LGBTZ out of anger and spite to create a world where the main character is a woman (who admittedly is not the most feminine by most standards) that loves other women.
I’ve talked about LGBTZ before and it’s origins, but I’m still amazed about how in the midst of a zombie apocalypse I’ve managed to have so many different kinds of queer characters existing and how I manage to build them and show that characters can still survive and be ok and still not be some kind of Mary sue (which is another term I have feelings towards) situation. I’m still building it and learning about gardening and homesteading and how cool/interesting it would be if it weren’t for this elitist idea following I see on some of the top websites.
Marina is a story that came from experimental about an idea I had on “What if Sarge met her mermaid half?” and it came from nowhere. But the idea has been building in my mind and now I have Marina, a story about mermaids that will both eat you and marry you, and how humans have lived with mermaids. It is fun to look at and apply our current world problems and see if Mermaids can fix them in anyway.
It has been fun creating these mermaids because it is a brand new world and there is so much to talk about to anyone who would want to listen. The plot is simple and straight forward so it allows me free flexibility to show certain events happening. I was recommended the idea that I write 8 different plots to make the story. So the first seven books would have the same plot stuff going on but told through different mermaid groups with the last book be a shared book with all the characters interacting with each other.
The Hardships of love is for NaNoWriMo and it is actually such a fun thing to write. While it is a completely different story then normal, I’m going to lump it into my experimental story universe. It’s not for any other reason just that I developed a love interest for one of the characters that I turned into an experimental character on habit.
Halflings was a fun character creation thing that turned into me asking how the world would be if half-human creatures where everywhere and what the different social status of each one would be.
Sorry. I realize I don’t tag. I’ll fix my blog tomorrow, and put the tag election for a lot of these posts. But just know it’s going to be a rough 3 days
